Over the course of 250 years, more than 200,000 enslaved African men and women were brought to the Río de la Plata by force.
Montevideo was then the main slave market, and housed in the current Capurro neighborhood a set of buildings where a large number of enslaved people were kept in captivity.
We invite you to learn about how the Caserío de los Negros was, what the infamous interoceanic slave trade was like,
how enslaved people traveled and many more things about this part of our history that is so sad and not widely known.
